Climate

New Zealand experiences mild temperatures, with moderate rainfall, and many hours of sunshine throughout most of the country. The climate is dominated by the mountains and the sea. Temperatures vary greatly in the southern and the northern hemispheres. While far north experiences subtropical weather during summer, parts of South Island can be as cold as —10 C in winter.
